Terms of Service
Preliminary · last revised June 2026
These preliminary terms summarize how SigIndex may be used while we finalize full Terms of Service ahead of general availability. They are not a substitute for the binding agreement that will replace them. By using SigIndex you agree to the points below.
What SigIndex is
SigIndex aggregates publicly available US EPA ECHO program data — facility records, inspections, violations, and enforcement actions — and computes a compliance signal score from it. The score is a convenience summary of public data, not an official rating, audit, or regulatory determination, and it is not a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment.
Acceptable use
- Use the API with your own key and keep that key confidential.
- Don’t present SigIndex scores as an official EPA determination or as a Phase I ESA to third parties.
- Don’t attempt to exceed, evade, or share the rate limits and call quotas tied to your plan.
- Don’t scrape, resell, or redistribute the underlying dataset as a competing bulk data product.
Plans, billing, and limits
Paid plans are billed through Stripe on the cadence shown at checkout. Each plan carries a monthly call allowance and rate limit; the free tier is capped at 10 calls per calendar month. Quotas and limits are enforced consistently across the API and the dashboard.
No warranty
SigIndex is provided “as is.” EPA source data can be incomplete, delayed, or revised, and scores derived from it inherit those limitations. SigIndex does not warrant that the data or scores are complete, current, or fit for any particular decision, and is not liable for decisions made in reliance on them. Verify anything material against primary sources.
Changes
These terms will be replaced by a full Terms of Service before general availability. We may update them in the meantime; material changes will be reflected by the revision date above.
